They say a mom is the glue that holds the family together. So how does a mom hold herself together? Here are five thoughts to get you through the roller coaster days that are a part of every great mom’s life.  These will help keep your sunny side on display.

1. Breath in, breath out. Fill your body with oxygen and it will clear your mind. If you’ve just made the bed, sit on it for a few minutes. A few minutes to yourself now will seem like hours later. So take those few minutes whenever you can. And that will help you deal with ‘stuff’ as the day progresses.

2. Make a list. Sounds simple but most of us don’t do it. If you have five important things to do and you haven’t written them down, it will feel as if you have twenty-five things to do. You might end up not doing any of the five things well; the anxiety will show.

3. Add a pleasure to a task. Listen to music while you’re organizing laundry. Phone your sister while you’re shopping. If you’re online researching something for your child’s school project, book a hair appointment.  Work-time flies when you’re having fun.

4. Do something only for you. Maybe it’s a new lotion you find when you’re grocery shopping, or, spending time rearranging your own closet instead of tidying up the kids’ closets. A small act of kindness to yourself once a day will have you feeling good and looking better.

5. Say thank you every day. Your family is blessed to have you. And you’re blessed to have them. All of them and everything about them. They are your life and they’re worth smiling about.
